DetailPH designed a three-shade system in 1925-1926; he and Louis Poulsen then built lights for a Paris exhibition. Their partnership lasted until PH's death in 1967. He crafted glare-free and directable light, making use of incandescent bulbs as the source. The 3-shade family today numbers 30 lamps, 3 for outdoors. PH designed a system, not just a single light, resulting in a thousand models over the years. Lamps came in many forms, colors, and sizes; the shades could be metal with painted undersurfaces (white, gold, or silver) or glass. Logarithmic spiral-based design ensured even light coverage, plus reduced glare and shadows. Each top shade's size had a corresponding set of lower shades; PH 2/1 Table marks an exception, as it uses lower shades from the 1/1 model. 'Hybrid' models were created to hang pendants at lower heights.
